2019 - 2020 All State Orchestra Information

1. Application: Online application forms will be available in September. An $8.00 non-refundable commitment fee per student will be assessed and due by the application deadline. A complete and on time application includes that the nomination form and commitment fee are received for each student by the deadline. Late applications (3 business-day grace) must be pre-approved by the Executive Director at [email protected] at least three business days prior to the deadline and a fee of $40 per student must be included with the late application.
   
2. 2019-2020 All State Orchestra Audition Requirements: ● String students in grades 7-9 may audition for the All State Junior String Orchestra. ● String students in grades 10-12 may audition for the All State Senior Orchestra. ● In order to participate in the Maryland All State Orchestra activities, a student must attend an independent (private), parochial, or public school in Maryland and be in an orchestra class for credit. ● In high schools in which an alternate scheduling program is operating, the student may participate in the year in which he or she earns a full credit. Review the specifics regarding eligiblity.
   
3. Music Required: ● Read the requirements document first to determine the specific requirements for your instrument. ● It is the student’s responsibility to acquire the music and prepare it. School directors should assist in this process. ● In the event that a student arrives at the audition with the incorrect audition music prepared, the student will be given the correct music and up to one hour to prepare the correct music for the audition. Please note: All communications are with the music school teacher/director. Students and parents/guardians must work directly with and communicate directly with the music school teacher/director. Alternate files, formats, and links are not provided unless a request for accessibility due to a documented disability exists and is forwarded by the music teacher/director.
4. All of the audition selections are sourced from the public domain. Both the excerpts and etudes are posted below. Original etude books are not required.
